Tuesday: Writing Task

West Indian Manatee


WALT: use our senses to make our writing more interesting.


West Indian Manatees are known as the sea cows of the coast. Have you ever seen one before?


Task 1: Watch the video clip on the site. Make sure you watch carefully so you can see what West Indian Manatees look like..


Task 2: Brainstorm using some of your senses. What can you see/hear/feel if you were to ever see a West Indian Manatee? Think about the shape of the Manatee, what you think it’s skin might feel like. Take a note of its environment. What does a West Indian Manatee need to survive?


In this table, write the descriptive words that you would be able to see/hear/smell/touch/taste.

On a Beautiful   Sunrise  me and my
friend’s Kolotita, Jeyda and Emeline  Wanted to go to swim
with some West Indian Manatee. We all said yes we were all
happy.the next day we all got 
    our swimming togs and we put them on . Then we got Went 
 our way to the water. We could already see
some West Indian Manatee.  We could hear a nice
breeze going through our hair with some beautiful
splashing noise by the waves coming through the tide.
I could feel the cold water with the seaweed under my
toes. While we were swimming with the West Indian
Manatee I felt a light touch to my arm under the water.
then I tried to hold my breath and go under the water
to see what it was, and what I saw was amazing to look
at. It was a West Indian Manatee touching my arm.
Then when I got back up to the top of the water I saw
that  Kolotita and  Jeyda and Emeline already had a
friend which was a West
Indian Manatee.we were all happy but
after Swimming with them we had to
go because I was getting dark we were
all sad but were all Coming back
Tomorrow so were said bye

Swimming with Green Sea Turtles

WALT: use our senses to make our writing more interesting.

Imagine going snorkelling at a beach and seeing beautiful green sea turtles. What do you think the experience would be like?

Task 1: Watch the video clip on the site. Imagine you were the person snorkelling… Put yourself in their flippers.

Task 2: Brainstorm using your senses. What do you think you would be able to see/hear/smell/touch/taste if you were swimming with Green Sea Turtles?

One day me and my Family were going to the Beach for the day but Before we're going we had to get  our stuff ready after getting our stuff ready we were off. I asked my mum is it going to be she said it's supposed to be about 1 hour away i said ok. 1 hour later “Khyani “khyani yes we are here ok hi Khyani hi come we are going to go to swim with some turtles now ok . When I first got into the
water I felt scared that the turtles around me
 would bite me. Then I
quickly Jumped out of the water and it seemed like something burnt my
skin off but nothing happened. So I went back into the water and tried
to stay calm. While I was in the water I could hear splashing noises
from behind me.  So I turned around and saw that there were more
turtles. But I knew that I could smell something fishing. So then I
waited and waited and waited. Then when I looked behind I could feel
the cold breeze coming my way. I could taste the cold breeze and the

salty water going in my mouth.after i looked at the water and i saw that they Wanted me to pat them  i was Scared but they Seem really nice so i pat them after i went to Swim they followed me after swimming with them my mum said that we have to go i was so sad but my mum said that we can come back I was really happy and I said bye to  my friends  the end

It was the First day on the titanic it was soo
cool but the one think i did not like the food
but the rest was good we were on our way to
the pool it took 5 minutes.when we Arrived i
was Excited but i had Just a before so I had
to wait a couple of minutes.after waiting i
hope in the pool after Swimming in the pool
for 2 hours i had to go i was sad that i had to
get out of the pool but my mum said i will
come back tomorrow I was really happy my
mum said we were going to eat i was happy
to 30 minutes later that was so good what
we had now i had to go for a Shower.after
having a Shower i was going for a sleep for
4 hours. 


After i Wake up i was soo Hungry but my
mum and dad said that we were going 
to eat soon my mum said to me to go
and get Change.after we all got Getting
some food after getting some food we
went back to our room.after we ate our
food  after eating i went for a sleep A
couple of hours later Khyani  Khyani
yes get up why Just hurry up ok ran
ran where is dad they are there ok.that
was good i know get on the boat ok.
omg look at the boat mum omg it is

Instructions:
Watch the video about the iceberg. You are the captain of the Titanic and are having to make decisions quickly as you see the iceberg come into view. You need to think about what happens before, during and after they hit the iceberg. You are NOT writing about the Titanic sinking just hitting the iceberg.

Example: 
  • Beginning: Captain has realised that there is an iceberg ahead - what do you do?
  • Middle: Hitting the iceberg, what does this look like and feel like?
  • End: What are you going to need to do to check on your crew and passengers?
